Saturday mornings…. All about possibilities, jammies, the week’s most slowly enjoyed coffee, happier kids, nothing to be late for… But for me, one of the highlights is also about gut busting planks and leg shredding squats. Really. Hard as it is to believe, despite the pain and suffering, I seriously look forward to my exercise class, Pilates Boot Camp at Mind the Mat on Mt. Vernon Ave.
It’s that incredibly satisfying feeling of pushing your body to its limits for 60 minutes. And then when it’s over, a great sense of accomplishment and lift off for the rest of the days’ exploits. The author of this now critical piece of my weekend is Megan Brown, co-owner of Mind the Mat and instructor of this class. She’s by far the best exercise teacher I’ve ever had. She knows her stuff, makes you laugh (yes, “Nice Hammies” is a quote from class), demonstrates everything, fixes your posture for maximum burn, and keeps you motivated when you think you’re toast. Plus she’s got a killer shuffle on her iPhone. The class and her outfit overall is worth a look if you’re in search of fitness fun and well done.

OK, I may have to try this boot camp sometime. It’s the only part of my week that’s not scheduled!

Great post. The Pilates Fitness system is very underrated. I started I am more motivated and nowhere near as stressed. I don’t hesitate to recommend Pilates to everyone.
