I loved that they were small and local. But the Chevy Chase Bank I know and love went under in 2008. Capitol One bought them with bail out money and they just haven’t switched customers out of the Chevy Chase brand yet. Last year at the Washington St branch they told me it would be early 2010 that the Chevy Chase brand would disappear and everyone would formally be Capitol One customers. I cringe. Capitol One is the scumiest of scumbag banks. They wrote the book on predatory lending. They are on the Walmart level of what is wrong with the world. I hate that I am their customer and was waiting for the brand switch over to find a new bank, but your post has relit the fire with my deceased friend Chevy Chase bank.
