You don’t have to be a big writer or a prolific online poster. All that’s required here is a helpful take on a local resource. Sharing it is easy:
- Comment on something already here – have experience with the resource covered in a post you read here? Add your take with the comment feature.
- Create your own post through email – want to add a new resource to lokalgood, or a new perspective on a resource already posted? Long, short, doesn’t matter. Write something up (here are some scribing tips) and email me, assuming I agree that it fits what we’re doing here, up it goes. Here’s an example of an emailed post.
- Submit a post through WordPress (what this blog runs on) – all you need is a user id (takes 2 minutes to get one) and for me to add you to the blog. Here’s a post that came through the WordPress route.
Wondering what to add? - Name of the game here is to encourage folks to add what they know about good local resources so we can capture more of the great stuff in our neighborhood in an easily searchable spot. A few examples…
- Services – know a great painter, handyman, instructor, accountant, piano teacher, firewood supplier, cabinet maker, etc.?
- Places – how about a vacation rental, little know local spot to take the kids for a day outside, great restaurant, specialty store, etc.?
- Events - found an interesting class, what about an upcoming event, recurring lecture series, etc.?
- Ideas - the muse not with you on a post but have ideas on categories LG should cover? Email LG (lokalgoodatyahoodotcom).
Adding new posts on resources already covered here is also a good route. The more perspectives the merrier so don’t be put off if the resource you want to share something about has already been written on.

Saw a great post on The Neighborhood Pharmacy of Del Ray and couldn’t agree more. For those of you wanting to discard old, expired medicines from your medicine cabinet, the pharmacy will take them back for free so you don’t have to throw them in the trash or down the sink. Hi Jen. Sounds good. To add posts all you need to do is log in to wordpress.com and get a userid. Email me it to me or post a reply here and I can add you as a contributor. Writing posts through WordPress from there is easy.
