Posting tips

Whether you’re commenting on an existing post or adding a new one, here are a few tips to keep in mind as you scribe:

  • Context, context, context – More than just gushing recommendations (or rants) about a place, folks want some context from someone who’s experienced that place, person, service. If it was good, why? If not, why not? Or maybe it’s good for a certain thing and not for others.
  • Short’s ok, too long not so much – Posts like these will range from the pretty short to medium length. And a little more depth than you’d get from a typical review site  is a good thing. But if you start to have flash backs from writing that college paper, you’re probably entering the too long neighborhood.
  • Best test: what would you find useful? – In the end, posts like these are all about providing useful, credible, findable insight into some local resource. So the best test, would you find this useful in knowing something more about a local resource from someone else who’d used it?
