It has always seemed to me that there’s a lot of cool and useful stuff (people, services, events, businesses, expertise, data) all around folks in neighborhoods like Del Ray. But a lot of it you don’t know about because it can be hard to find local stuff on the web, if it’s on the big web machine at all. This blog is a place for capturing some of that local goodness (ergo the name) by sharing resources and observations about local stuff.
Others have sometimes joined me by adding posts/resources (check out how). Whoever’s posting the goal of local discovery remains constant and continues to be the wind in this turbine.
Neighborhood info sharing has also inspired a related experiment called heystack.com, which is for all those times when we want to know what others are doing on a decision we’re facing but don’t ask (too busy, too forgetful, not comfortable). What to pay a babysitter? When to give your kid a cellphone? When to start setting dough aside for college or retirement? All from local folks we feel share circumstances similar to ours.
Comments and feedback are hearted in both places so fire away. Meantime, may your local info hunt be speedy, your quarry worth the chase and your need filled.
