Who’s writing?

The community, neighbors, me.  Interested in joining other locals who’ve started adding what they know about a local resource?  See how.  It’s easy, quick and doesn’t require a degree in Web 2.0-ology to join in.

As for the moderator and fellow contributor…. I’m 38, an education software guy by trade, nuts about my wife (who’s jumped in the fray here on LG as well) and three kids, love to gab on entrepreneurial ideas with like-minded buddies, recovering home improvement addict, not-recovering car change addict, talk a mean vein of trash about the foreign lands across the Potomac in Maryland, developing a troubling affinity for various whiskies, and other stuff ….but most to the point…. an avid proponent of the lifestyle we found in Del Ray.

I love that I can go a whole weekend without setting foot in a car because you can walk everywhere.  I love that my kids can go to school right in the hood (and walk to get there) just like I did in a much smaller town (Waterford).  I love that we have things like butchers and cheese shops and a small pharmacy and restaurants where you know all the folks working there and they know you.  I love the rituals…..like walking with my girls to St. Elmos the local, non-chain coffee shop every Saturday morning for bagels and gab.  Or taking guests for an after dinner walk to the local frozen custard shop (call it ice cream and they’ll throw your *&^&#  out… not really but save yourself a reprimand).

So along with others interested in sharing their experiences about local resources, I’m writing about what I know that’s good in this hood.  Here’s more info on how to add a resource if you’d like to weigh in.
